Now, stop and think for a moment. This quote means , by virtue of giving a closing distance, THEY KNEW WHAT THE TARGET WAS GOING TO BE BEFORE THE PLANE HIT THE PENTAGON.
That is the significance of 'the plane is 50 miles out, the plane is 30 miles out.' They knew where the track was going to end!
So, Dick Cheney knew the plane was attacking the Pentagon. The young man asked 'Do the orders still stand?' But no order to intercept the incoming aircraft was ever given. So, the order left standing had to be NOT to intercept the incoming plane.
"The plane is 50 miles out. The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to, "The plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the vice president, "Do the orders still stand?" And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?"
The fact that they were giving the distance out proves they KNEW where the plane's path was going to end.
