Former Head Of Star Wars Program Says Cheney Main 9/11 Suspect

The former head of the Star Wars missile defense program under Presidents Ford and Carter has gone public to say that the official version of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory and his main suspect for the architect of the attack is Vice President Dick Cheney.

It's Official: There's Water on the Moon

Saal has employed a high powered imaging technique termed secondary ion mass spectrometry. He has identified a wealth of volatile compounds including water molecules. The molecules were concentrated in the center of the pebbles rather than coating their surface. This is being taken as evidence that the moisture is incumbent to the moon rather than being a coating from external contact.

Mortgage Giants' Collapse Could Herald 1930's Style Depression

In his column today, Rees-Mogg states that the world economy is not just entering an economic recession, but a depression comparable with the great crash of 1929 and its 10-year aftermath.

The Financial Tsunami: The Next Big Wave is Breaking Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and US Mortgage Debt

The announcement by US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson together with Federal Reserve chief Bernanke, that the US Government will bailout the two largest guarantors of housing mortgage debt--the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--far from calming financial markets, has confirmed what we have said repeatedly in this space: The Financial Tsunami which began in August 2007 in the relatively small "sub-prime" high risk US mortgage securitization market, far from being over, is only gathering momentum.

As America Collapses US Government Secret Plans Revealed

On March 13th 2008 there was a secret closed door meeting of The United States House Of Representatives in Washington. In the history of The United States this is only the fourth time a secret meeting was held by the house. Even though Representatives are sworn to secrecy by House Rules XVII, some of the members were so shocked, horrified, furious, and concerned about the future of America by what was revealed to them inside the secret meeting, that they have started to leak this secret information to independent news agencies around the world.

While the secret closed door meeting of the House did in fact occur, the rest of this article is as of this posting unconfirmed. However given that the US economy is headed for an unavoidable crash, and governments value their own survival over that of their own people, the projected response by the government to a crash outlined in this article is not outlandish.

The oil bomb

Iran has really gone and done it now. No, they haven't sent their first nuclear sub into the Persian Gulf. They are about to launch something much more deadly. " next week the Iran Bourse will open to trade oil, not in dollars but in Euros." -- Scottish Socialist Voice, issue 264).

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/oil.html

In 1998, Dick Cheney, now US vice-president but then chief executive of a major oil services company, remarked: "I cannot think of a time when we have had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian." But the oil and gas there is worthless until it is moved. The only route which makes both political and economic sense is through Afghanistan. [Guardian]

12 Babies die during vaccine trials in Argentina

At least 12 babies who were part of a clinical study to test the effectiveness of a vaccine against pneumonia have died over the past year in Argentina, the local press reported Thursday.

The study was sponsored by global drug giant GlaxoSmithKline and uses children from poor families, who are "pressured and forced into signing consent forms," the Argentine Federation of Health Professionals, or Fesprosa, said.

MPs pass Berlusconi immunity bill

Italy's lower house of parliament has voted to pass a controversial immunity bill put forward by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's government.

The amendment protects top public officials, including the prime minister and president, from prosecution.

I hereby grant myself immunity from all taxes.

UPDATE: Hitler just emailed me saying he grants himself immunity for all the crap he did.

Spy Bill Debate Comes to an End - Spy Bill Passes: Gov't Free to Spy on You

If you sneezed, you probably missed the actual debate part.

The Bipartisan Surveillance State

Both parties have long been at war with the Fourth Amendment.

The passage of this FISA legislation has absolutely nothing to do with protecting Americans, and everything to do with establishment of a complete surveillance state.

FISA 'compromise' completes transformation of US into full police state

The update of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, called the "FISA compromise," or more appropriately, the "spy bill," largely completes the triumph of the Bush/Cheney administration and a bipartisan criminal consensus. By convenient design, the FISA revision derails pending lawsuits filed against the Bush administration's corporate spying partners (AT&T, Sprint Nextel, and Verizon), silences (the largely empty-to-begin-with) congressional investigations into the Bush administration's illegal domestic spying program.

In fact, the debate over the spy bill is a red herring, clouding the larger central (purposely unaddressed) issue: the "war on terrorism" lie itself.

Beware Bush's preemptive strike on torture

New revelations of the U.S. government's systematic use of torture in the "global war on terror," including communist Chinese "brainwashing" methods from the 1950s, have brought renewed calls from lawmakers and human rights advocates for the prosecution of senior Bush administration officials. While the legal and political obstacles to such prosecutions are steep, those implicated will not want to leave the enjoyment of their retirement years to the mercy of the federal judiciary.

So don't be surprised if some time before Inauguration Day 2009, President George W. Bush issues a blanket presidential pardon to ensure that those who organized and implemented brutal interrogation techniques such as "waterboarding" (a terrifying simulated drowning) are never hauled before the courts. A pardon would prevent future administrations from ever prosecuting those responsible for torture and other mistreatment at Guantánamo Bay and secret CIA detention facilities elsewhere overseas.

D--INTERNET AWARENESS SERVICES

The contractor shall conduct internet awareness services in support of the Governments activities to include Indications and Warning, Force Protection, and situational awareness.

The purpose of the services will be to identify and assess stated and implied threat, antipathy, unrest, and other contextual data relating to selected internet domains. The contractor will prioritize foreign language domains that relate to specific areas of concern.

The contractor will analyze various web pages, chat rooms, blogs and other internet domains to aggregate and assess data of interest to the Government. It will also identify new internet domains that directly relate to the Governments specific local requirements.

I told you this wasn't about terrorism. This is about keeping watch on the people by a paranoid government that knows it has exceeded its lawful authority.

Big Brother: The Google cars that will photograph EVERY front door in Britain

Plans by Google to photograph millions of British homes and publish them online have been condemned as a 'gross invasion of privacy'.

It's a cool idea not thought all the way through. Here in the US, men caught exiting the doors of strip clubs on those google street-level images have wound up facing divorces!

IRAN READY TO HIT UK

As tensions in the Middle East continued to grow, they warned that the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah had already established sleeper cells in Britain and mainland Europe tasked with carrying out bloody reprisals.

Likely UK targets include nuclear power stations, military bases, Government buildings and high-profile politicians and members of the Jewish community.

Is the UK getting set up for a "false flag" attack (to be blamed on Hezbullah and Iran) to get an attack against Iran going?<>This article and screaming headline, all in caps, looks as though this is just what may have been planned as a "justification" for such an attack against Iran.

Cranking up the 'Booga Booga'!

IRAN is poised to launch terror attacks in Britain if the West presses ahead with military strikes against its nuclear facilities, intelligence experts warned last night.

The Pirate Bay Wants to Encrypt the Entire Internet

The team behind the popular torrent site The Pirate Bay has started to work on a new encryption technology that could potentially protect all Internet traffic from prying eyes. The project, which is still in its initial stages, goes by the name "Transparent end-to-end encryption for the Internets," or IPETEE for short. It tackles encryption not on the application level, but on the network level, the aim being that all data exchanged on your PC would be encrypted, regardless of its nature -- be it a web browser streaming video files or an instant messaging client. As Pirate Bay co-founder Fredrik Neij (a.k.a. Tiamo) told me, "Even applications that don't supporting encryption will be encrypted where possible."

I doubt any efficient encryption will keep out the hard=asses like NSA, but at least we can make them work harder at finding out our business secrets on their way to their brokers.

Russie

Kicking Sand In Russia's Face

Predictably, Moscow went ballistic. It has been fuming for over a year over Bush's missile plan, and getting angrier by the month. The Kremlin actually threatened a "military-technical" response, whatever that means, if the US installs an ABM system on its doorstep.

Nearly 70% of Czechs and Poles also oppose this crazy and unnecessarily provocative plan. Poland is demanding a $3 billion air defense system from Washington as its price for basing the interceptor missiles. The clever Poles may be trying to sabotage the plan without having to say no to their protector and ally, the US. One wonders how much Czech politicians are getting paid to go along with Bush's little Central European Maginot Line?

If the White House is so determined to provoke Russia, why doesn't it just go and bomb Putin's country dacha or Lenin's tomb?

What the US Government wants is to restart the cold war, thereby restoring the nation to the days of endless streams of money pouring into defense contractors to build costly weapons which will look good on parade but never actually be used.

Russia may aim nukes at Europe

Defense sources in Moscow say among the schemes being discussed to counter US plans to station a missile defense shield in Europe is the possible deployment of ballistic missiles in Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave between the EU countries of Lithuania and Poland, The Times Online reported.

A source with close connections to the Russian defense ministry said, "One of the main steps under consideration is a redeployment of nuclear missiles to Kaliningrad and Belarus. These missiles would be pointed at Europe. It would be a perfectly legitimate step. If America wants to expand its military capabilities in Europe, then we have the right to act accordingly".

And you can just imagine defense contractors salivating at the prospect that one of this president's "accomplishments" has been the rekindling of the Cold War.

Russian warships to return to Arctic waters

Russia announced Monday that it is sending warships to patrol Arctic waters for the first time since the breakup of the Soviet Union -- the latest move to increase the country's global military presence.

Russia is sending both the US and NATO a message with these stepped up patrols: I just hope that some folks are actually listening.

Georgia says will down Russian jets

A Georgian official warned Russia on Friday that it will have to "collect the shattered fragments" of its planes if they intrude on Georgian airspace again.

Let's hope that cooler heads on both sides of this conflict prevail.

Further armed hostilities between Georgia and Russia could send this entire region spiraling out of control.

US troops to hold exercises in Georgia, Ukraine

US troops on Monday began military exercises near the Russian border in ex-Soviet Ukraine and were poised to launch them in Georgia, amid tense relations between Moscow and Washington, officials said.

Our relations with Moscow have just moved from "chill" to "blizzard" with this move.

Russia could have been a partner; US and NATO foreign policies have unnecessarily turned it into an adversary.

And the timing of this, with all the other geopolitical tensions around the world, could hardly have been worse.

World Iran, Gazprom set to sign cooperation memorandum

Russian energy giant Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] and Iran's Ministry of Petroleum will sign on Sunday a memorandum of cooperation in the oil and gas sphere, an Iranian deputy oil minister said.

So now that Russia will have an agreement in place on oil and natural gas with Iran, coupled with a technical agreement on defense with Saudi Arabia, the question is this: what will Russia do to protect its geopolitical and financial interests in Iran should Iran be attacked by the US and/or Israel??

The Russian-Israeli Mafia: Off-limits to FBI, US intelligence

The same cancer that bankrupted the Soviet Union and the early Russian Federation, namely the Russian-Israeli Mafia -- the global organized crime syndicate that uses Israeli government protection and passports to cover their illegal worldwide activities -- has so thoroughly permeated the American political and business system that the FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies are virtually powerless to bring the major perpetrators to justice.

Torture

Red Cross finds Bush administration guilty of war crimes

In a secret report last year, the Red Cross found evidence of the CIA using torture on prisoners that would make the Bush administration guilty of war crimes, The New York Times reported Friday.

The Red Cross determined the culpability of the Bush administration after interviewing prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, according to the article.

Plan Mexico Gets Rough US Contractor Leads Torture Training in Mexico

The existence of a training led by a US defense contractor to teach Mexican police torture tactics in order to combat organized crime and the local government's adamant defense of the program is particularly disturbing considering the US government's recent approval of the $1.6 billion Plan Mexico, also known as the Merida Initiative. Plan Mexico is an aid package specifically designed to support President Felipe Calderón's deadly battle against organized crime. It will fund more US training for Mexican police and military, in addition to providing them with riot gear, spy equipment, and military aircraft. Plan Mexico allows funds for the deployment of up to fifty US defense contractors to Mexico.

Torture: this administration loves it so much that it not only does it domestically and outsources it internationally; it also contracts to teach it to foreign intelligence and police departments!

PM brushes off evidence of Guantanamo abuse

Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Thursday brushed off evidence that U.S. interrogators had abused a Canadian terrorism suspect in Guantanamo Bay, saying the man's trial should go ahead anyway.

"He confessed, didn't he? That's all I need to know!"

Shin Bet uses torture regularly, B'Tselem report says

Hollywood pressured over torture portrayals

Before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the portrayal of torture on network television was a rarity. But the moment piqued interest in Hollywood and led to dozens of television and movie story lines in which American heroes deal with uncooperative antagonists who hold critical information about an imminent attack.

In other words, Hollywood helped sell the acceptability of torture to the American people.

What do you think of Canada's treatment of Omar Khadr?

  • (67%)He's a criminal, he deserves to be punished
  • (33%)It's despicable - Canada needs to bring him home

Revealed: How Guantanamo pushes inmates to the edge

An unprecedented glimpse into the harsh conditions at Guantanamo Bay has emerged via a grainy video of a weeping Canadian teenager undergoing interrogation after he had been tortured by sleep deprivation for three weeks.

Forget Morality, Humanity or Legality: Torture Doesn't WORK

A key architect of America's torture program, Doug Feith, testified under oath to Congress today that torture is necessary because - otherwise - we couldn't get any information out of the "bad guys". Several Congress people agreed.

Why do any Congress people support this argument?

Because many people mistakenly assume that torture works, and is thus a necessary evil.

Let's put aside questions of morality, humanity, and legality . . . Let's just focus on one question: does torture work?

In fact, the professional FBI, CIA and army interrogators all say no.

They say that people will say anything to stop the pain . . . specifically, they'll say what they think the torturer wants to hear. Moreover, they say that the way to actually get useful information about of prisoners -- including information helpful to stopping future terrorist attacks -- is to build trust and rapport with them, or to outsmart them in ongoing conversations.

See for yourself:

"Experience indicates that the use of force is not necessary to gain the cooperation of sources for interrogation. Therefore, the use of force is a poor technique, as it yields unreliable results, may damage subsequent collection efforts, and can induce the source to say whatever he thinks the interrogator wants to hear."

  • The FBI interrogators who actually interviewed some of the 9/11 suspects say torture didn't work

Still don't believe it? These people also say torture doesn't produce usable intelligence:

  • Former high-level CIA official Bob Baer said "And torture -- I just don't think it really works ... you don't get the truth. What happens when you torture people is, they figure out what you want to hear and they tell you."
  • Rear Admiral (ret.) John Hutson, former Judge Advocate General for the Navy, said "Another objection is that torture doesn't work. All the literature and experts say that if we really want usable information, we should go exactly the opposite way and try to gain the trust and confidence of the prisoners."
  • Michael Scheuer, formerly a senior CIA official in the Counter-Terrorism Center, said "I personally think that any information gotten through extreme methods of torture would probably be pretty useless because it would be someone telling you what you wanted to hear."
  • Dan Coleman, one of the FBI agents assigned to the 9/11 suspects held at Guantanamo said "Brutalization doesn't work. We know that. "

Many other professional interrogators say the same thing (see this, this, and this).

Torture is certainly immoral, inhumane, and an illegal war crime. However, until people realize that it doesn't work, it will not stop, and those responsible will not be held accountable.

MOHAMMED OMER; FROM TRIUMPH TO TORTURE

Maya Angelou once said... "History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again." Truer words were never spoken. Unfortunately, many events are being relived again..... but some are facing them with courage... Mohammed Omer is one of them.

Irak

Nouri al-Maliki ready to oust US from Iraq green zone

The green zone of Baghdad, a highly fortified slice of American suburbia on the banks of the Tigris river, may soon be handed over to Iraqi control if the increasingly assertive government of Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister, gets its way.

Sistani Rejects US-Iraq Security Deal

The Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, the most revered Shiite leader in Iraq on Tuesday rejected any security agreement with US, stressing such deal will affect the country's sovereignty.

In a meeting with Iraqi national security adviser Muwaffaq Al-Rubaie who was briefing al-Sistani in Najaf on the progress of the government's security efforts, and the talks on US security deal, Ayatollah said his country will not accept such a security deal which is seeking to justify the illegal presence of US military troops in the war-torn country.

It will be interesting to see what the US reaction to Sistani's rejection of the deal will be.

But by the look of it, coupled with a looming 31 July 08 deadline, it looks like the US administration will not get at all the agreement they thought they could from the Iraqi government.

Israeli jets using Iraq's airspace?

The US has allowed Israeli jets to use US airbases in Iraq and fly over Iraqi airspace for a likely attack against Iran, Iraqi media say.

Israeli jets flying over Iraqi territory in preparation for strike on Iran

So, Israel will strike Iran from within Iraq, then boogie on back home to Israel and let the AMERICAN KIDS STUCK IN IRAQ deal with the Iranian retaliation.

Israeli jets using Iraq's airspace

Pakistan Daily

They said some aircraft suspected to be Israeli warplanes coming from Jordan, have landed in the US controlled al-Assad airbase near Haditha.

It is believed that these activities are parts of a joint Israeli-US training, preparation and coordination to launch an air raid against Iran's nuclear plants.

So, Israel is going through Iraq to reach Iran, which means Iran will have to come back through Iraq to retaliate against Israel ... right through YOUR kids, who did NOT join the US Army to fight Israel's wars!

Iraqi government to prevent Israel using airspace

The government in Iraq has told the US Military it will not tolerate Israel over-flying the country in an attack on Iran.

Palestine

West Bank taps run dry due to drought and Israeli controls

Taps have run dry in West Bank towns and Palestinians face acute water shortages as dry weather strains supplies already restricted by Israel, residents and the water authority said.

"Israel controls our water supply -- this year is even worse as there is a shortage in rainfall," Shaddad Attili, director of the Palestinian Water Authority, told Reuters, predicting severe shortages across the West Bank and Gaza Strip this summer.

'This is like apartheid': ANC veterans visit West Bank

Veterans of the anti-apartheid struggle said last night that the restrictions endured by Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied territories was in some respects worse than that imposed on the black majority under white rule in South Africa.

ISRAEL CROSSES ALL RED LINES IN WEST BANK

The message was clear: Don't you ever dream of freedom, for whatever you do wouldn't help you, the world won't help you because we control America and America controls the world; we are the master race.

This week, the Israeli army vandalized and ransacked civil institutions, including a school, a medical center and a commercial department store in the heart of Nablus, the second largest city in the West Bank. The vandalized and ransacked institutions happen to be in an area under the control of the PA, pursuant to the hapless Oslo Accords.

Iran

Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technologies to Iran

According to journalist Jason Leopold, sources at former Cheney company Halliburton allege that, as recently as January of 2005, Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian oil development company. Leopold says his Halliburton sources have intimate knowledge of the business dealings of both Halliburton and Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran's largest private oil companies.

Additionally, throughout 2004 and 2005, Halliburton worked closely with Cyrus Nasseri, the vice chairman of the board of directors of Iran-based Oriental Oil Kish, to develop oil projects in Iran. Nasseri is also a key member of Iran's nuclear development team. Nasseri was interrogated by Iranian authorities in late July 2005 for allegedly providing Halliburton with Iran's nuclear secrets. Iranian government officials charged Nasseri with accepting as much as $1 million in bribes from Halliburton for this information.

This is a repeat of how Donald Rumsfeld sold chemical weapons to Saddam, then the US turned around and invaded Iraq because Saddam supposedly had chemical weapons (in fact he had already destroyed them).

'US backs Jundullah to destabilize Iran'

Pakistan's former Army Chief, Retired General Mirza Aslam Baig, says the US is supporting the outlawed Jundullah group to destabilize Iran.

He said that the US is providing training facilities to Jundullah fighters--located in eastern areas of Iran--to create unrest in the area and affect the cordial ties between Iran and its neighbor Pakistan.

Seymour Hersh: US Training Jondollah and MEK for Bombing preparation

Hersh explains that the aim of the US covert operations inside Iran is to create a pretext for attack with the goal of regime change. "The strategic thinking behind this covert operation is to provoke enough trouble and chaos so that the Iranian government makes the mistake of taking aggressive action which will give the impression of a country in acute turmoil", he said. "Then you have what the White House calls the 'casus belli', a reason to attack the country. That is the thinking and it is very crazy."

Unfortunately, logic and the members of this administration have never had a close and on-going relationship.

This is why the US economy, reputation, and military capabilities have been pushed off the proverbial cliff by the people in power in Washington.

I would really like to be able to say that I wouldn't bet that some kind of US/Israeli strike on Iran will be happening; however, the facts, as they are unfolding, appear to indicate otherwise.

Barak In Washington To Lobby For Iran Attack

Israeli war minister Ehud Barak will visit Washington next week to meet with top U.S. government officials and President Bush in what some are suggesting will be the final planning session in anticipation of a military strike on Iran.

Just a reminder who is really behind the war.

Looks like Washington is getting its "marching orders" from Tel Aviv about the next upcoming war to "neutralize" yet another of Israel's "existential threats".

President George W Bush backs Israeli plan for strike on Iran

President George W Bush has told the Israeli government that he may be prepared to approve a future military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiations with Tehran break down, according to a senior Pentagon official.

"Amber means get on with your preparations, stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you're ready," the official said. But the Israelis have also been told that they can expect no help from American forces and will not be able to use US military bases in Iraq for logistical support.

This is a slippery slope, and could move from "amber" to "green" in a heartbeat depending on a lot of variables..

Ehud Barak is in Washington next week to make that final pitch that there is no other alternative (and for Israel, there is always "no other alternative", as happened with Iraq, which also had no WMDS) for an Israeli strike against Iran.

What is going to happen, however, if this thing moves forward, is that our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan will get hit from pro-Shiite troops in those countries, and that will be what will get the US involved militarily.

This is precisely what Israel is counting on.

This story (which, by the way, is never sourced) appears to have been placed to "soften up" people in the US and UK for an Israeli-led attack, which promises no bad consequences, because the US (allegedly) will not be involved militarily.

And responding to the statement "...the Israelis have also been told that they can expect no help from American forces and will not be able to use US military bases in Iraq for logistical support.", the bovine excrement meter shook so violently that it darn near caused a tsunami!

PM 'says Israel pre-planned war'

Israel's prime minister has said that the strategy used in last year's war with Lebanon was drawn up months in advance, an Israeli newspaper reports.

Remember that the two Israeli soldiers Israel claimed were "kidnapped" by Hezbollah and used as an excuse to launch the pre-planned war were actually INSIDE Lebanon when captured.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/israeli_solders.html

Israel's new warplane to spy on Iran

Israel says it will reveal a military aircraft capable of spying on Iran in reaction to Tehran's recent military exercise in the Persian Gulf.

So, Israel flies over Iran with this new toy, Iran shoots it down, Israel screams "provocation" and "retaliates", and your kids get suckered into yet another war on Israel's enemies.

'Iran does not intend to wipe out Israel'

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Israel is disintegrating on its own and Iran will not take any act of aggression against it.

Hersh: Cheney 'Privately' Says He Prefers U.S. -- Not Israel -- Strike Iran Because 'We'll Get Blamed Anyway'

HERSH: If Israel goes -- I'll tell you what Cheney's says privately, and whether or not you, how I know this is, -- what he says privately is, "we can't let Israel go because, first of all, they don't have the firepower, we do. We have much more firepower. And secondly, if they go, we'll be blamed anyway."

Asked by Mitchell if that meant Cheney wanted the U.S. involved, Hersh replied, "there you go." Watch it:

One has to wonder just how far Cheney is willing to go get his next war started.

And consummate sociopath that he is, he will never accept any blame or shame for what devastation his decisions may cost not only this country, but the world.

Israel reassures West: No Iran attack in 2008

Israeli leaders have sent messages to several Western countries that ruled out an attack on Teheran in 2008. Israel told the governments of Britain, France and the United States that the Jewish state would allow for yet another diplomatic effort to halt Iran's uranium enrichment program.

One has to wonder if Israel just blinked.

Iran Shows Its Cards

The moment the United States makes a move to secure the Strait of Hormuz, Iran will unleash a massive bombardment of the military and industrial facilities of the United States and its allies, including the oil fields in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. American military bases in Iraq and Kuwait, large--fixed and well known-- would be smothered by rockets and missiles carrying deadly cluster bombs. The damage done would run into the hundreds of millions, if not into billions, of dollars, and hundreds, if not thousands, of U.S. military personnel would be killed and wounded.

That it may be the most insane thing Washington and Tel Aviv could do at this juncture is, unfortunately, no guarantee that they won't do it.

Afghanistan

Afghan Warlords, Formerly Backed By the CIA, Now Turn Their Guns On U.S. Troops

The war in Afghanistan reached a wrenching milestone this summer: For the second month in a row, U.S. and coalition troop deaths in the country surpassed casualties in Iraq.

To anyone who hasn't seen the movie "Charlie Wilson's War", this might not be a bad time to see it.

This gives an amazing snapshot of how the US got involved with the Taliban in the first place, and what happened right after Soviet troops were defeated.

The US congress had a marvelous chance at that moment to start building infrastructure, and really make a difference.

Congress chose not to, because it was "too expensive" to do that, and besides, we'd gotten the Soviets out, right??

So when the oil companies couldn't work out a deal with the Taliban ( http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/oil.html )for pipelines, because it was "too expensive", we went in to clobber the country militarily, blaming Osama Bin Laden for 9/11. Now, having installed a puppet government in place which is perceived by the Afghani people as so crooked that they collectively have to screw their socks on in the morning, the consequence is that the Taliban are starting to look like the good guys.

We have never, ever had enough troops on the ground (which, by the American military estimates, would be around 400,000) to make this thing work.

So what now??

Declare victory, and come home?

Continue to bomb the crap out of this country, declare victory, and come home?

Or do the US and NATO do the unthinkable, and bring the Taliban into the political process?.

That is ultimately the only logical course of action to take.

Of course, logic and this administration have never had a comfortable, on-going relationship.

Armchair pilots striking Afghanistan by remote control

"Seeing bad guys on the screen and watching them possibly get dispatched, and then going down to the Taco Bell for lunch, it's kind of surreal," says Captain Matt Dean.

US air strike wiped out Afghan wedding party, inquiry finds

A US air strike killed 47 civilians, including 39 women and children, as they were travelling to a wedding in Afghanistan, an official inquiry found today. The bride was among the dead.

If the groom wasn't a terrorist before, he sure as hell is now!

A U.S. coalition force air strike on Sunday killed 47 civilians, including 39 women and children, in the eastern province of Nangarhar, an Afghan official said on Friday.

"Look at the bright side. That's 47 people we don;t have to worry will become terrorists!" -- Official White Horse Souse

Pakistan's top diplomat rejects foreign troops on its soil

Pakistan's top diplomat asserted Wednesday that his nation will permit only Pakistani troops to operate within its borders, rejecting a standing U.S. offer of military assistance also intended to help Afghanistan.

The statement by Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, coming during late Wednesday's U.N. Security Council session on Afghanistan's future, could deal a blow to the United States' efforts to kill or capture al-Qaida leaders.

Watch for further demonization of Pakistan in the Western press, followed by further "destabilization" of the border with Afghanistan, coupled with the US and NATO treating the Afghanistan/Pakistan border as though it absolutely does not exist.

US poised to attack Pakistan extremists

US commandos are reportedly poised to launch raids against al-Qa'ida and Taliban targets in Pakistan as Washington moves an aircraft carrier into the Arabian Sea.

The redeployment of the Abraham Lincoln and its escort vessels from the Gulf yesterday came after US military intelligence officials recorded an increase in the number of foreign fighters travelling to Pakistan's tribal areas to join with militants.

It appears that whether the new Pakistani Parliament likes it or not, the US is going to operate inside the border of Pakistan, and treat the Afghanistan/Pakistan border as though it does not exist.

US blames Pakistan for violence in Afghanistan

American anger over Pakistan's perceived unwillingness to move against the militants is clouding the Bush administration's relationship with the newly elected government in Islamabad.

The new government has talked openly about seeking a political accommodation with the extremists.

Watch for Pakistan to be further demonized by the western press very soon, followed shortly thereafter by cross-border US/NATO raids from Afghanistan into Pakistan which will treat the border between the two countries as though it does not exist.

Diplomat: U.S. Can't Search for Bin Laden in Pakistan

Pakistan's top diplomat says there are no U.S. or other foreign military personnel on the hunt for Osama bin Laden in his nation, and none will be allowed in to search for the al-Qaida leader.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told The Associated Press Saturday that his nation's new government has ruled out permitting any such military operations, covert or otherwise, to catch militants.

The Pakistani diplomatic team and their military are no fools.

They understand that any US/NATO incursion into Pakistani territory is not about "catching the dead guy (meaning Bin Laden, who assumed room temperature years ago ); it is about using that as a pretext in order to establish US/NATO troop presence on the ground in Pakistan to open up a potential Western front against Iran, should there be a US/Israeli strike against that country.

Accidents at Disease Lab Acknowledged

The only U.S. facility allowed to research the highly contagious foot-and-mouth disease experienced several accidents with the feared virus, the Bush administration acknowledged Friday.

And Bush wants to move the facility onto the mainland, right in the heart of cattle country??????

They're Killing Us Darling. They Really Are.

There is a lot of spooky conjecture going round which may not be conjecture. After all, if the people running the show have been found to be lying, merciless psychopaths then it's not a stretch to correctly assume that there are no limits to the evil they will do. I present depleted uranium as but one well known and documented example.

Virus starts like a cold — but can be a killer

"This virus has the capability of causing severe respiratory illness in people of all ages, regardless of their medical condition," said John Su, a disease investigator for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention based in Texas, where the largest outbreak is tapering off at an Air Force base after 10 months. Other outbreaks have been reported in Washington state and South Carolina, along with a single case in an infant in New York City.

It's interesting to note that the largest outbreak documented took place at an Air Force base in Texas. This is reminiscent of the outbreak of the "Spanish" flu, which despite the name actually appeared first on US military bases.
