Weather Warfare: Beware the US military’s experiments with climatic warfare

- by Prof. Michel Chossudovsky - 2007-12-07

‘Climatic warfare’ has been excluded from the agenda on climate change.

Inside the world of war profiteers

Inside the stout federal courthouse of this Mississippi River town, the dirty secrets of Iraq war profiteering keep pouring out.

Hundreds of pages of recently unsealed court records detail how kickbacks shaped the war's largest troop support contract months before the first wave of U.S. soldiers plunged their boots into Iraqi sand.

Your tax dollars at work under this administration, folks.

US corners 42 percent of world arms market

The United States reaffirmed last year its leadership in world arms trade, cornering nearly 42 percent of the market as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan prompted a weapons shopping spree among neighboring nations, according to a congressional report set to be released Monday.

"War: it's fantastic!" - official white house souse.

this article makes very fascinating reading, in terms of the govenments to whom we are selling these weapons.

we’re in the midst of the most radical privatization agenda in our nation’s history

I think we’re in the midst of the most radical privatization agenda in our nation’s history. We of course see it in schools. We see it in the health care system, in prisons. And now, we’re seeing it full blown in the war machine.

Contractors may train Mexican drug forces | Seattle Times Newspaper

The U.S. and Mexican governments are expected Monday to announce an anti-drug package that will probably involve hiring private U.S. military contractors to train Mexican troops on the use of new technologies and equipment, senior U.S. officials said.

Hey, just about in time for another juicy Blackwater "no bid" contract once their mercenaries get "diverted" from Iraq.

And it will be interesting to see if this contract is actually bid, and to which company it is awarded.

Congress hands the keys to our missiles to Israel

Congress approves $1.2 billion worth of US-funded Israeli arms purchases, including 50 huge GBU-28 guided bunker

This, while homeless vets sleep in our streets, and the pentagon sends home one of the longest-serving military units (Minnesota Naiontal Guard Members) one day earlier than the day they'd qualify for their GI education benefits.

Unflipping believable.

Pentagon's weapon spending surges to $1.6 trillion in 2007

The U.S. Defense Department's spending on weapon systems has surged to 1.6 trillion dollars in 2007, doubling from 790 billion dollars in 2000, said a congressional report released on Tuesday.

According to the report by the Government Accountability Office(GAO), the acquisition costs were 26 percent higher than the original estimates in 2007, and the spending on research and development were 40 percent over the budget.

Senate approves $150 billion in war funding & more than 1/2 trillion for weapons, etc.

Well, thank GOODNESS we got Congress under Democratic control!

Senate passes mammoth 648 billion defense bill

The US Senate Monday passed a mammoth 648 billion dollar defense policy bill, shorn of attempts by disappointed anti-war Democrats to dictate President George W. Bush's Iraq strategy.

The bill included around 128 billion dollars for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a Congressional Budget Office estimate.

Congress raises limit again as U.S. debt nears $10 trillion

According to the folks who follow this stuff closely, the national debt has been rising by an average of $1.36 billion per day since September of last year.

And each citizen now has a share of nearly $30,000.

Democrats propose tax surcharge for war

Thank GOODNESS we gave the Democrats control of Congress!!!!!!!

Report Shows Lawmakers Heavily Invested in War

A new study by a nonpartisan research group shows that lawmakers' stock holdings in various companies doing business with the Defense Department totals more than $196 million, earning the congress critters millions in profits individually since the start of the war in Iraq.

Pain Beam to Get Tougher, Smaller, More Powerful

The Pentagon's pain beam weapon could get tougher, smaller, more powerful, and more mobile under a series of new research and development projects. And that could pave the way for the so-called "Active Denial System" to finally be sent to war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

... or deployed to the streets of America to keep you "uppity" taxpayers from complaining about the $30,000 in debt just dumped on you by the US Government.

Blackwater Bulks Up Air Power Using Little-Known Company

Private security contractor Blackwater Worldwide has purchased a light attack counterinsurgency aircraft, and over two dozen other aircraft, under the name of an obscure aviation company.

An Embraer Super Tucano was placed on the U.S. civil aircraft registry on February 21, 2008 under the name of EP Aviation LLC. Additionally, 28 other aircraft have been registered to this company, most over the past few months. The list includes 14 Bell 412 helicopters, as well as a number of fixed wing aircraft.

It looks as though there's one growth industry with no slowdown in sight; it's professional mercenary companies, working for the US government.

FBI Finds Blackwater Trucks Patched

Blackwater Worldwide repaired and repainted its trucks immediately after a deadly September shooting in Baghdad, making it difficult to determine whether enemy gunfire provoked the attack, according to people familiar with the government's investigation of the incident.

The Pro-War Undertow of the Blackwater Scandal

A real hazard of the preoccupation with Blackwater is that it will become a scapegoat for what is profoundly and fundamentally wrong with the U.S. effort and mission. Condemnation of Blackwater, however justified, can easily be siphoned into a political whirlpool that demands a cleanup of the U.S. war effort – as though a relentless war of occupation based on lies could be redeemed by better management – as if the occupying troops in Army and Marine uniforms are incarnations of restraint and accountability.

US, Iraq Negotiate Blackwater Explusion

The State Department will simply replace Blackwater with another crop of hired mercenaries, and put Blackwater somewhere else (like Afghanistan).

Blackwater says lawsuit 'politically motivated' | Reuters

Blackwater USA founder Erik Prince on Sunday dismissed as "politically motivated" a lawsuit filed against his security company by a wounded survivor and relatives of three Iraqis killed in Baghdad on Sept. 16.

Prince has no qualms with the murder of these people: he just hates like hell that his company got caught doing it.

Blackwater won't allow arrests

A defiant Blackwater Chairman Erik Prince said yesterday he will not allow Iraqi authorities to arrest his contractors and try them in Iraq's faulty justice system.

"We will not let our people be taken by the Iraqis," Mr. Prince told editors and reporters at The Washington Times. At least 17 of 20 Blackwater guards being investigated for their roles in a Sept. 16 shooting incident are still in a secure compound in Baghdad's Green Zone and carrying out limited duties.

The U.S. has been caught with at least 2,386 chemical weapons deployed in Iraq.

'Harmless' Area Denial Weapons Facts...And Burns

Here are some facts about the active denial weapon, and what the DoD has called a "mishap" when a serviceman was injured. From the known information, we can clearly see this weapon is far more harmful than we are being told. The energy required to power this weapon is enormous, and may indicate that the military is using (or plans to use) zero point energy to power it.

One has to wonder precisely against whom the government is planning to use this weapon, and weapons like it.

Airman Burned in Raygun Test

An airman suffered second-degree burns during an evaluation of a non-lethal heat-ray gun this week in south Georgia, officials said.

If it created 2nd degree burns, than it is a lethal weapon if used long enough.

And the US Government built it to use on YOU!

Homeland Security commissions new human incapacitation device

By 2010, Intelligent Optical Systems hopes to be selling a sort of high-powered flashlight, the "LED Incapacitator," which would act by not only effectively blinding its target, but overloading his or her brain, with rapidly flashing lights at varying colors and frequencies. In addition to disorientation, headache and nausea are also likely.

One has to wonder against whom the DHS is intending to use this weapon.

So everyone buy a plastic non-breakable mirror, and take it with you to the political protest marches, and be sure to reflect those light flashes back into the eyes of the guys holding the light.

State Dept official asks to cancel Blackwater hearing

The lawyer for State Department Inspector General Howard Krongard asked on Saturday that he not be called to testify before Congress on discrepancies between his statements and those of his brother over the brother's ties to the Blackwater security firm.

Unflipping believable.

State Department Inspector General Krongard should be compelled to testify.

The kind of dark cronyocracy and politically incestuous relationships many in this government have with Blackwater executives should absolutely be brought into the light of day

Barry Bonds vs. Howard Krongard: And the Winner Is…

Embattled State Department inspector general resigns

Embattled State Department Inspector General Howard Krongard submitted his resignation Friday, forced out for allegedly impeding ongoing criminal investigations into the construction of a new, $740 million U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and security firm Blackwater Worldwide.

Scientists develop material that bounces bullets

Security guards, police officers and armed forces could become Robocops able to take bullets in their stride, thanks to a carbon nanotechnology yarn which can deflect projectiles without a trace of damage.

Missile Defense Success Questioned

Tasked with protecting the United States from missile threats, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) — a direct descendent of Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative — has come under intense criticism from groups claiming that the cost of such a service isn’t justified by the effectiveness of shooting down a missile with another missile. Controversy has also arisen over the role of testing in securing Congressional funding.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The system is already obsolete. All ABM systems are based on the theory of a ballistic path by the incoming threat, which allows the future course to be predicted. But the Russians have already created a nuclear warhead reentry vehicle that is able to maneuver enough to foil any prediction of its course.

Biotechnology and nanotechnology: the hard cell

US rejects UN mercenary report

The U.S. government on Wednesday rejected a U.N. report that said the use of private security guards like those involved in the shooting deaths of Iraqi civilians amounted to a new form of mercenary activity.

The report by a five-member panel of independent U.N. human rights experts said the contractors were performing military duties even though they were hired to be security guards. The killing of 17 civilians in Baghdad last month by Blackwater USA guards underscores the risks of using such contractors, said panel chairman, Jose Luis Gomez del Prado of Spain.

Top Iraq contractor skirts US taxes offshore

Kellogg Brown & Root, the nation's top Iraq war contractor and until last year a subsidiary of Halliburton Corp., has avoided paying hundreds of millions of dollars in federal Medicare and Social Security taxes by hiring workers through shell companies based in this tropical tax haven.

Pentagon Releases Propaganda Documents -- Will the Media Pay Attention?

Eight thousand pages of documents related to the Pentagon's illegal propaganda campaign, known as the Pentagon military analyst program, are now online for the world to see, although in a format that makes it impossible to easily search them and therefore difficult to read and dissect. This trove includes the documents pried out of the Pentagon by David Barstow and used as the basis for his stunning investigation that appeared in the New York Times on April 20, 2008.

'Deafening' silence on analyst story

Even with countless media outlets available these days, a Sunday New York Times cover story could always be counted on to send a jolt through the television news cycle.

But apparently that's no longer the case. Indeed, reporter David Barstow's 7,600-word investigation of the Pentagon's military analyst program -- whereby ex-military talking heads, often with direct ties to contractors, parroted Defense Department talking points on the air -- has been noticeably absent from television airwaves since the story broke on April 20.

Famed War Reporter Calls Pentagon/Media 'Propaganda' Program Illegal

Feeding the military analysts "key and valuable information" in secret briefings by Pentagon and White House officials, the idea went, would make them the go-to guys for the networks and encourage the networks to "weed out the less reliably friendly analysts . . . ."

The Song That Is Irresistible: How the State Leads People to Their Own Destruction

The so-called war on terror has given rise to a huge industry that has emerged almost from scratch during the past few years. According to a 2006 Forbes report, the Department of Homeland Security and its predecessor agencies paid private contractors at least $130 billion after 9/11, and other federal agencies have spent a comparable amount. Thus, besides the military-industrial-congressional complex (MICC), we now have a parallel security-industrial-congressional complex (SICC).

UK Defends Cluster Bomb

The spokesperson said instead that the possibility of banning the M85 was not even on the table at Vienna because a self-destruct mechanism provides "the relevant technology to prevent unnecessary harm".

The American War Upon the World

"A strategy of tension (Italian: strategia della tensione) is a way to control and manipulate public opinion using fear, propaganda, disinformation, psychological warfare, agents provocateurs, as well as false flag terrorist actions (including bombings). According to historian Daniele Ganser, "It is a tactic which consists in committing bombings and attributing them to others. By the term 'tension' one refers to emotional tension, to what creates a sentiment of fear. By the term 'strategy' one refers to what feeds the fear of the people towards one particular group"

Private US military contractors move into Helmand

As Nato troops reclaim territory from the Taliban, the movement has increasingly resorted to suicide attacks and roadside bombings. "The worry is that there will be a blast, and some contractors will panic and open fire, as happened with Blackwater in Baghdad.

Blackwater provides security for the US embassy in Kabul, but the largest American government contract in the country is believed to be held by Texas-based USPI. According to reports in its home state last week, the company has been accused of overbilling the US government by millions of dollars for non-existent employees and vehicles. USPI acknowledges that it is being investigated, but insists that the allegations are untrue. That is the very last thing that Helmand needs at the moment," said a Western diplomat.

The US's very own mercenary army: siphoning off billions of tax dollars, and absolutely accountable to no one.

Pentagon Explores 'Human Fear' Chemicals; Scare-Sensors, 'Contagious' Stress in the Works?

What about offensive use? Pheromones are effective in minute quantities, so a wide area can be blanketed with just a few liters. Given sufficient concentration, would everyone exposed start suffering from an unidentifiable dread? The contagious aspect means that those affected would start churning out fear pheromone as well.

Light Sound = New Weapon

Military funded researchers are preparing to test a nonlethal weapon that combines light and sound. Nicholas C. Nicholas, chief scientist of Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory, told an audience yesterday at a nonlethal weapons conference that in the first half of next year, the lab plans to test DSLAD, the Distributed Sound and Light Array Debilitator. It'll use essentially off the shelf technology to see if combining aversive noises with light produce some special debiliating effects. Anecdotal effects include dizziness and loss of balance, and of course, nausea. In other words, DSLAD could be another potential "puke ray."

Curious case of the dead scientist and the bomb experiment

There has been no inquest into his death, as the coroner has been waiting for the MoD to disclose information about the incident. An attempt to prosecute the scientist's manager for manslaughter ended when prosecutors said they were withdrawing the charge, but said the case was too "sensitive" to explain that decision in open court.

The Guardian has established that Jupp was a member of a small team of British and US scientists making bombs from ingredients of the sort that terrorists could obtain.

Yes, I could see how "sensitive" it is when we discover that our own people are making IEDs.

Remember those two SAS men caught planting bombs in Iraq?

For the last couple months we keep hearing how all the IEDs used in Iraq are coming from Iran, and now we have indications they actually come from Britain.
